Carsulae

The archaeological area shows the imposing remains of a thriving Roman city. It developed along the Via Flaminia and near the mineral waters of San Gemini, already appreciated in ancient times.
It was a popular holiday destination, as evidenced by surviving monuments. In imperial age decays due to the loss of importance of that branch of the road
comfort. It was abandoned perhaps because of an earthquake that lowered its main monuments.
The archaeological area shows an urban center crossed by the inner part of the via Flaminia which constitutes the card of the city.
In the heart rises Hole with all the shops of public buildings including Basilica? Terme and so-called Gemini Temples, dedicated to the Dioscuri.
The cardo leads toArch of San Damiano, beyond which opens the way of the Sepulchres flanked by some burial monuments of remarkable invoice.
Decentrated against the heart of the city you can see the buildings dedicated to the show: in particular the Theatre and theAmphitheatre.
In the archaeological area there is also the church of San Damiano, made with karstic waste materials.
InAntiquarium and Visit and Documentation Centre "Ciotti", the materials found during the excavations are exposed.
